What: Please prepare an a capella version of a song that includes one verse and the chorus.
Actors may be asked to participate in a group dance audition (not too intense) and may be asked to read with or for the director. There are two group dance auditions per evening and actors will be expected to stay, if requested, for the dance audition that follows their individual audition. Please wear appropriate clothes and shoes (if you have them) for the dance audition.
Actors do not need to bring paperwork, resumes, or headshots to the audition. Just bring yourself and sign in upon arrival.
Audition Schedule: Auditions will be scheduled by time slot, every five minutes. All actors should arrive at least 15 minutes prior to their scheduled time, in case the director is running ahead of schedule.

7:15 – 7:35 Dance auditions for early group

Callbacks (if necessary) will be Thursday evening, February 23 – actors will receive audition information for callbacks by e-mail. Callbacks will consist of short readings and parts of songs of the director’s choosing. No specific preparation is necessary. Lack of callback does not mean that an actor has not been cast.
Tuition: All actors are required to pay a tuition of $225. Payment is required by the specified date and time in order to secure their role in the production. Questions regarding scholarships and payment arrangements can be directed to email@example.com.
Final Cast: Actors that are initially cast will be notified via email by 5 p.m. on Friday, February 24. Actors must accept their role, register, and pay tuition (or make payment arrangements) by Saturday, February 25 at 5 p.m. Failure to accept, register, and pay tuition may result in loss of the roles. Actors that do not receive an email on Friday should check their spam folder and continue to check their email throughout the weekend, in case they are cast and need to respond.
Links for registration and tuition payment are located on the RCT website and will be made available when the cast notification process has started. First, follow the link to complete the registration. Then, follow the link to make the payment. Actors will NOT receive written confirmation of registration, but will receive confirmation for the payment Please do not email to verify registration has been accepted. If an actor receives a payment confirmation, they are registered and their role has been accepted.
It is the actor’s responsibility to provide a good PARENT contact email and phone number at the time of audition, check that email, and respond in a timely manner.
The final cast list will be posted on therct.com at 5 p.m. on Sunday, February 26.
Important Information to know BEFORE Auditions
Guys & Dolls is a Tony-award winning musical production that debuted on Broadway in 1950. It is set in 1930s New York City and includes many classic songs. RCT’s production of Guys & Dolls will be performed at the Wildish Theater in Springfield, Oregon on April 28-30 and May 5-7. Technical week will be April 23-27 and will also be the Wildish Theater.
Rehearsals start on Monday, February 27 with a mandatory meeting for parents and actors that evening. Rehearsals will typically occur on Monday through Thursday evenings from approximately 6:15 to 8:30. Actors may not be called every evening and each week may have a different schedule. Specific weekly schedules will be made available each week, no later than Sunday at 5 p.m. Friday or weekend rehearsals may be called for leads, small groups, or dance groups. Technical rehearsals are usually longer and can start as early as 4:30 p.m. and end as late at 9 p.m. Actors are expected to attend all rehearsals and can only be excused by the director. Potential conflicts should be communicated as far in advance as possible. Technical week rehearsals and all performances are mandatory for all actors. Regular rehearsals will take place at the First United Methodist Church, unless otherwise indicated.
Casting for the production is at the sole discretion of the director. Roles are not pre-cast and there is no preference for actors based on age, experience with RCT, or relation to an RCT board member. Actors should be aware that their audition begins the moment they walk through the door. First and foremost, the director will be looking for actors that are focused, supportive, and respectful of others. He will be looking for actors who understand that all roles are important and will approach their role with equal enthusiasm and commitment as those cast in lead roles.
RCT is a family affair! The success of our productions relies heavily on the volunteer efforts of parents and family members to help with sets, props, costumes, front of house, green room, and backstage. Past RCT volunteers will often tell you that they enjoy helping with the production as much as their actor enjoys performing. There is something for everyone and we need each family to expect to participate. All families must complete at least 20 volunteer hours that include at least 2 volunteer shifts during the performances. Background checks are required for all adults working directly with the actors. The cost of the background check is $17, is valid for three years, and is the responsibility of the volunteer.
RCT provides most costume items required for the production. However, actors will be expected to provide their own public underwear (undergarments that can be worn when changing into their costumes), tights or socks, and shoes. Shoes are usually dance shoes, but may be street shoes depending on the needs of the production. Occasionally, actors may be requested to provide other costume items from home. RCT will attempt to assist any actor that is unable to provide required items.
RCT has a specific policy regarding cell phones. Actors are allowed to bring cell phones to rehearsals. However, when the director indicates that cell phones should be “dark”, they must be turned off. Actors are prohibited from taking and sending ANY photos of other actors without express permission from the actor involved. Cell phones are strictly prohibited at all times in the dressing room areas and typically the green room.
