Snow White Tickets on sale now!!

Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs (and more) come to the Wildish
Rose Children’s Theatre presents Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs Feb. 20-22 at the Wildish Theater, 630 Main St., in Springfield.  Judy Wenger, a longtime Eugene educator, directs a cast of 35 area students, ages 8 to 15, in this version of the classic Grimm fairy tale.
Performances are 7 p.m. on Feb. 20 and 21, and 2 p.m. on Feb. 21 and 22.  The play tells the story of Snow White as she escapes from the Evil Queen into the forest where she makes the most unlikely of friends. This version of the classic story includes talking trees, animals and spirits.
Lead roles are played by Noelle Heliker and Hannah Lake sharing the role of Snow White, Ariel Long as the Queen, Aaron Conover in two roles as a narrator and the Huntsman, Grace Finrow as the Mirror, Samantha Stout as the Witch, and Rafael Batya as the Prince.
Reserved seat tickets are $10 for adults and $8 for children and seniors, and are available atwww.therct.com or an hour before the show at the theater box office.
“After reading at least six versions of the tale, I landed on one that allowed me to make some adaptations,” Wenger said., noting that she wrote most of the play herself with welcome additions by the cast.  “This is definitely not the Disney play.  My attempt was to provide speaking roles for my delightful cast, giving them all the opportunity to shine.  The result is a fun, sometimes funny show that asks the audience to play along with us.”
About a third of the cast is performing for their first time.  The play is ideally suited to young audiences who are new to live theater as well as everyone who loves the Snow White story.  The 75-minute play has no weapons, and the Witch is more comical than scary, according to Wenger.
Before retiring in 2010, Wenger taught middle school language arts and drama for 37 years, 27 at Roosevelt Middle School.  She is the inspiration for the cartoon character Ms Wingit in the cartoon strip Stone Soup by Jan Eliot.  This is the third show she has directed for Rose Children’s Theatre.
Founded in 1978 by Celeste Rose, Rose Children’s Theatre is dedicated to strengthening our community by empowering children and their families through the magic of live theater.
